Global Biofuels Signs Turnkey EPC Contract with Chinese Multi-national.
Global Biofuels Ltd Nigeria’s leading biofuels company, on Thursday 02 September 2010 signed a turkey Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with Messrs Wemet International Complete Plant Engineering Company Ltd of Nanning in the Quangxi Province of China. The contract consists of three parts as follow:
- The construction of One 3,500 metric Tons/Day Sweet Sorghum Crushing Bioethanol Refinery plus One 2 X 15 Mega Watt Biomass Power Plant.
- The construction of One 6,500 Hectares Sweet Sorghum Plantation and Housing Estate.
- The construction of One 3,500 metric Tons/Day Sweet Sorghum Crushing Bioethanol Refinery plus One 2 X 15 Mega Watt Biomass Power Plant.
- Management of One 6,500 Hectares Sweet Sorghum Plantation Farm Estate and one 3,500 metric Tons/Day Sweet Sorghum Crushing Bioethanol Refinery and One 2 X 15MW Biomass Power Plant..
The three contracts were awarded following competitive bids involving seven (7) Original Equipment Manufacturers based in the USA, Brazil, India and China. Apart from their robust experience and price advantage, Wemet provided an end-to-end solution package which included backward integration, for the development of sweet sorghum commercial farm, including the crushing of 3,500 metric tons/day of sweet sorghum for the production of 240KLPD fuel ethanol, generation of 30MW electric power from sweet sorghum biomass, production of biodiesel/edible oils from safflower/soybeans, while animal husbandry and methane capture from cattle droppings. Complete an assembly of simple agro-industrial processes arranged in single integrated industrial complex.
The contract signing ceremony was witnessed by senior officials of the Guangxi Government, the Nanning International Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the China Construction Bank, the China Export-Import Bank, the China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation ( SINOSUR) amongst others.
The Nigerian delegation which included Jean Claude Lamoliatte, Dr Felix Babatunde Obada and Mrs Tokunboh Jakande was led by Senator Ayodele Arise. Dr. Felix Babatunde Obada signed the contract on behalf of Global Biofuels Ltd while Mr Li Wen Zhi signed on behalf of Nanning Wemet International Complete Plant Engineering Co.Ltd.
